Following the devastating fire at the Church of the Holy Name, Greenisland, on September 1, the Bishop of Connor is asking members of parishes across the diocese to consider making ‘a gift to bless Greenisland Parish at this difficult time.’

Bishop George Davison has asked parishes to invite offerings for the Church of the Holy Name over the remaining Sundays in September.

The offerings will be collated by diocesan office and sent to Greenisland Parish to help them as ‘they begin the process of rebuilding and put in place arrangements for their life together in the interim.’

Bishop George added: “In this way, we can say to the people of Greenisland that their diocesan family stands alongside them at this time.”

A GoFundMe page is also raising funds for the church.

  • Three boys, two aged 11 and one aged 10, have been charged in connection with the fire at the church.
