The First Friday Club in the Parishes of Larne and Inver with Glynn and Raloo had a very special guest recently – comedian Olivia Nash.
Thanks to a generous donation from Mid and East Antrim the club was able to host ‘A Conversation with Ma’ with Olivia, who plays Ma in the popular comedy Give my Head Peace on May 2.

The event included a free lunch after Olivia’s talk. The rector, the Rev David Lockhart, said: “We were delighted to be joined by Olivia Nash who gave a fascinating and humorous talk about her career and how she started out. Olivia is well known to locals she is from Larne.
“It was lovely to see our hall being used and enjoyed by so many people.”
The First Friday Club was established in September 2023 by Norma Nixon and Beverley Lockhart in an effort to break down isolation felt by people post Covid.
The club meets on the first Friday of the month. People bring their knitting, crocheting and sewing etc. There are free newspapers and a book swap and an unending supply of tea/coffee and biscuits. Tables are set up and the chat certainly flows.
The next meeting before the summer break in July and August is Friday June 6 from 10am–12 noon and all are welcome.
